History :

The solid worldwide positioning of the brand Figueras comes as a result of over 40 years of dedication to international markets. The year 2016 will mark an important milestone for the company with its entry into the investment fund Abac Capital, an association which will undertake the ambitious expansion plan that the company has designed for the coming years.

Figueras International Seating awarded the National Design Award for its entire track record. This is the highest award in the field of design and innovation given to companies in Spain.

The company positions itself as the leader in product development and custom-designed projects by offering the most suitable and personalised solution according to the needs of each project in which it is involved.

The new London Showroom becomes the company’s flagship, given that it places the company at the hub of global architecture.

In Room XX of the UN in Geneva and under the cupola of the artist Miquel Barceló, Figueras installs seats conceived as individual work centres.

Figueras outfits the White House (Washington, D.C.) press room with the Flame seat.

With the creation of Figueras Engineering & Consulting, the company consolidates its course of carrying out custom-design projects. It offers comprehensive engineering solutions by developing mobile seating systems, platforms, telescopic tribunes and mobile floors.

Figueras breaks into the macro, multipurpose space segment with the installation of Madrid Arena, which has the capacity for 10,500 people.

The subsidiary, Figueras USA, is created to strengthen the company’s presence in that market.

Creation of the Figueras Design Centre, where the ideas and drawings of architects become reality. It is engaged in providing service to architects and in creating signature seats. The following architects collaborate, among others: Ricardo Bofill, Jean Nouvel, Carles Ferrater, Rem Koolhas, Foster + Partners and Vázquez Consuegra.

Warner Brothers International Theatres and Figueras sign an exclusive contract to outfit 500 movie theatres with over 100,000 seats of the revolutionary Kasandra model. They will be installed throughout the world at the most modern and spectacular complexes that exist.1997

To outfit the facilities of the Barcelona ’92 Olympic Games,Figueras International Seatingdesigns a unique sports seat model, christened the B-92.

The TOP seat is born, the company’s star product, with a mould-breaking and advanced design due to itsIntegral Form manufacturing system.

Figueras creates the new Integral Form upholstering system, an original manufacturing process of the Figueras brand that will bring another revolution to the sector, in which the rigid product is replaced by a modular product. This system consists of an upholstering process that integrates upholstery, the interior structure and foam, thereby forming a mono-block. It is ergonomic, non-deformable and fireproof.

José Figueras Mitjans, son of the founder, becomes the President ofIndustrias Figueras. Within a year, the new facilities at Lliçà d’Amunt will be inaugurated.

Figueras launches Model Z onto the market, created by the designer,Antoni Bonamusa. It is the first upholstered seat and is premiered at the largest and most modern movie theatre of Barcelona, Cine Teatro Novedades, owned by the entrepreneur Pedro Balañá.

During the golden era of Hollywood, the inauguration of a multitude of movie theatres causes an increase in the demand for seats. Wooden benches evolve into individual seats, and Figueras develops the first seat for movie theatres, completely hand-crafted and made of wood. Its shapes achieve a surprising level of comfort.

Martín Figueras starts his own carpentry business in L’Hospitalet del Llobregat (Barcelona).
